Tips for Real Estate Photography

Here are some good tips to think about when listing your clients’ photos online.

  • Choose the best photos to showcase.

Choose the best photo for the exterior of the house because it is the one that entices buyer to look at your listing.  Most real estate sites list 25-30 properties on the same page, you will have a lot of competition.

  • What are the strongest points of the property?

Secondary exterior shots, such as a deck, patio, or a great backyard, are great selling points.

  • Time of day matters.

The best time of day to photograph is early in the morning or later in the evening. The “sweet spot” is about half an hour before sunset; it might not be the most convenient time for the owner and might cost a little extra, but the difference in how it makes the property look is worth it! Many real estate photographers have packages that include twilight shots of the property.

  • Remember great photography is not substitute for a great price.

No amount of amazing photographs can overcome an overpriced house. Photographs can capture your house in the best possible light and make them easier to sell, but they will not inflate the value of your house.
